Metal Detecting from Auckland New Zealand since November 2010.
Coin shooting, relics and curios.
A place to record and share
some of the finds and experiences
of an enthusiastic amateur metal detectorist using a Minelab E Trac initially and now since Easter 2015 a Minelab CTX 3030.
Got a call about a ring find on Kohi beach this morning. Arrived there about 10.30 and found I would actually be looking for 3 gold rings, one with diamonds. No pressure. So I gridded hard following the tide down and the dry sand alternately. Found them all near the bottom of the slope but spread out. Happy lady. Happy me.
Very nice to receive $50 + a bottle of wine. HH MK .-)
Had an evening beach hunt with my son on Waitangi day. The first hunt in the dark for some time and I had forgotten how enjoyable it can be. Despite the beach being very crowded earlier in the day the really good finds did not appear however We did have some success and here are my finds.
The elephant head pendant is silver as is the 1936 NZ threepence.
Got a text from my son on Wednesday. "Do you wanna go detecting after work" Reply "Yep" So we were on the sand at Mission Bay at 6.45. People everywhere. Fraser using my old E Trac and me with the 3030. Tide incoming. We did ok. Fraser won the cash count with $10.00 + some junk jewelry. I only managed a measly $5.00. :-) Here are my finds for the evening. The chain is silver. The ring is junk.
