Holiday cash

I was late getting to the beach this morning so could only work the upper slope and dry sand but the $20.10 result was OK by me. Got several pieces of bling jewelry too but that is already in the bin.

Another find was the 1986 old decimal 20c coin in unusually good condition from high up in the dry sand.

Beach bling again

I spent a few hours on the beach on Wednesday afternoon. Targets were few and far between as expected as I keep returning to well hunted beaches. It's a bit of a challenge I suppose to see if I can find what others have missed. Also a bit deluded but still fun all the same. The best finds were the 925 silver pendant, quite old but unfortunately damaged and the Gold or Brass plated chain which is nearly in a wearable state after extensive cleaning to try and extract the mud from between the links. Plus $2 in coin.

I might just have to wait for some sand movement before returning.

Thanks for looking.

Wildlife from the Manukau mud.

A two hour hunt last Friday afternoon produced 10c and some wildlife from the mudflats ahead of the incoming tide. The snake is one from many left behind after a religious ceremony and they are becoming far too common in my opinion.  It may reflect our growing cultural diversity in this city but the result is just more rubbish left on the beach. The twin Dolphin ring is plated muck metal and the Gull brooch is brass plated copper. There are no marks on the brooch and although it must have been quite attractive when new it has no value now. So not a lot of return for the time spent but enjoyable all the same as there were numerous targets to dig and that's what it is all about.

Thanks for looking.
